My first ever blog post - how exciting.
I thought this would be a good way to express the beauty of booking a equine related photography session even if it is on a Monday evening after a full day of work haha. Late Monday evening on June 28th I got the privilege of working with Hannah and her new mare Snips. Hannah had recently graduated high school and was looking to do something memorable for the occasion while also including one of her passions - horses.
I arrived at her place to be greeted by Hannah and a beautiful grulla mare who had it all... The dorsal strip, leg stripes, wither markings and a lovely shade of steel gray. We took a quick trip through the subdivison and turned down a little pathway that opened up into a secluded field and all I can say is wow.
The field was practically enclosed by spruce trees with one trail at the end of it that eventually leads its way down to a creek, but we didn't have any need to go that far as the way the sun was setting made for a gorgeous backdrop just within a few feet of us. After seeing the dandelion (or something similar) poofs I was completely sold. Honestly there was not a bad pose between the two of them - everything flowed naturally and the longer I photographed the lower the sun was setting creating a lovely evening glow which caught the glitter in Hannah's dress just right.
One of the best parts had to be when the two of them (bareback in a graduation dress I will remind you) decided to stretch their legs a bit and left me behind to photograph as they worked their way across the field at a fast paced canter. Hair, dress, and hat all blowing in the wind.
We wrapped up the evening with a few fun ideas using the dandelion poofs as a prop which brought just as much joy to Snips I think as it did myself. After feeling satisfied with what we created, Snips lovely willing attitude, and Hannah's amazing riding skills we parted ways and I made my way back as fast as possible back to my computer to download the "monday magic".
